|ROBERT D. BAUERLEIN
Robert D. (Bob) Bauerlein has had a broad and distinguished career in both public service and business. He started his public service career in Cleveland, Ohio where he worked on the staff of Mayor Carl Stokes for three years. This was followed by four years as Ombudsman for the City of Alexandria, Virginia.
In 1976 Bob started his Federal Service as a Budget Examiner with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). After seven years with OMB, Bob moved to the Department of State where he focused on national security and foreign policy resource management issues. During that nine-year period, Bob worked closely with all of the executive branch agencies engaged in national security matters, as well as the relevant Congressional committees and sub-committees.
From 1992 to 1999, Bob served as Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs. He was responsible for policy and management oversight of the Air Force’s Foreign Military Sales system, technology transfer and disclosure of classified information programs, Foreign Area Officer program, foreign cooperative research and development activities, and the Air Force’s international personnel exchange efforts. During Bob’s tenure, Air Force FMS cases increased in value by over $30 billion.
After leaving Federal service, Bob joined the Pratt and Whitney military engine company as the head of business development and international sales and after market support efforts. In 2000 Bob joined The Boeing Company in its Washington, D.C. office as Vice President for International Operations. He was responsible for coordinating all technology transfer efforts, obtaining U.S. government advocacy for Boeing’s military and commercial sales abroad, and serving on numerous international councils, such as the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, U.S.-New Zealand Business Council, Middle East Policy Council, Korea Society, U.S.-Taiwan Business Council, and Aerospace Industries Association. Bob retired from Boeing in 2008.
Mr. Bauerlein has Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Political Science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Bob is the recipient of a number of SES performance awards, including Presidential level recognition and has been recognized for his support for many U.S. friends and allies around the world.
